Real Estate Wealth Expo: Bob Kittell on Beating the Stock Market

As promised, I'm currently at the Learning Annex Real Estate Wealth Expo - it's quite the production. According to the announcements, the event is completely sold out, with 32000 people attending.

The exhibit floor isn't open yet, but the first speaker is finished. The speaker was Bob Kittell, and he was speaking about beating the stock market. For the most part, the entire talk was a thinly veiled sales pitch for an investment website called InvesTools - the site seems to be pretty well put together and gives a pretty quick dashboard to all of the useful stock metrics. If you're experienced with the market, you can probably get the same info from Yahoo! Finance, but it'd be useful to have it all in one place.

One of the things that Kittell talked about that was new to me was the strategy of Covered Calls. I hadn't ever heard the idea before - it basically involves purchasing the stock and writing a call option on stock that you own (rather than trading the option without the underlying stock). It seems interesting, and something I'm going to learn more about.

(As an aside, I learned from a quick Google search that Bob Kittell is actually a VP of Investools - nowhere in his presentation or in the introductions was that information shared with those here)

Next up: George Foreman...
